Kerala Public Works Department, National Highway Authority of India and the Cochin Corporation authorities have started emergency patch works of damaged roads in the city. The PWD authorities have started works at Shanmugham Road, BTH Road and the stretch from Palarivattom to Kakkanad and other areas in the city where roads are in a poor condition.
PP Benny, Executive Engineer, PWD (Roads) said that they have started only emergency patch works by filling potholes with gravel and concrete powder which is not very effective. Proper tarring is possible only when rain abates, he said. The National Highway Kodungalloor division is carrying out the repair works at the rundown Edappally railway over bridge and its approach road.
