Subsidiaries of the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) have been conferred 5th India Power Awards 2012 by the Council of Power Utilities, New Delhi.
The council has instituted India Power Awards to recognise and acknowledge the contribution of individuals and organisations for the development of energy sector.
Subsidiary companies of GUVNL - the Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited (MGVCL), Vadodara, the Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited (PGVCL), Rajkot and the Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited (UGVCL), Mehsana - had submitted their nominations to the council. MGVCL has been conferred award for its achievement as overall utility performance-distribution mixed.
The award was received by MGVCL's Chairman Raj Gopal, Managing Director SB Khyalia and chief engineer SM Godkhindi.
Similarly, PGVCL has been conferred awards under - energy efficiency and conservation and for innovative IT and metering application. The awards were received by PGVCL's Managing Director Girish Shah. UGVCL on the other hand has been conferred award for its achievement as overall utility performance - rural which was received by its Managing Director N Shrivastava.
Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL) Vadodara too has been conferred award for innovative initiatives in new and renewable energy sources in recognition of the 1 mw canal top solar power project on Narmada main canal in Kadi, Mehsana. The award was received by GSECL Managing Director and Raj Gopal.
