Greenpeace India on October 19 laid the foundation for its revolutionary rural electrification micro-grid project in Bihar's Dharnai Village in Jahanabad district. Earlier on September 4, 2013, Greenpeace had announced the launch of this project, co-implemented with Centre for Environment and Energy Development.
The micro grid will involve about 100 kilowatts of solar panels that will supply affordable, sustainable and round the clock electricity to 350 households in Dharnai. The micro grid, targeted to become operational by early next year, is being installed to showcase that the real solution for rural electrification lies in decentralized renewable energy.
