North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) will be adding another 2,300 mw of power to its present capacity. This public sector utility is also planning to go public in the next three years. NEEPCO's authorised share capital is Rs 5,000 crore and its net worth as on March 2012 was Rs 4,780.01 crore.
The Corporation presently has an installed capacity of 1,130 mw which is 60 per cent of the total installed capacity of the Northeast India.
In another three years the Corporation is looking to complete five projects generating around 917 mw of power. Chairman & Managing Director of NEEPCO, PC Pankaj told a leading business newspaper that presently five projects- 600 mw Kameng Hydro Electric project, 110 mw Pare Hydro Electric project both in Arunchal Pradesh, 60 mw Tuirial Hydro Electric project in Mizoram, 101 mw Tripura Gas based Project and 46 mw Agartala Gas Turbine Plant-Combined Cycle Conversion Project both in Tripura are under implementation.
These projects will be completed by 2015 and in the next three years the corporation's installed capacity will move up to 2000 mw. The Corporation is investing close to Rs 7,000 crore in these projects, he added.
