State-run power major NTPC is developing a 15 mw grid-Interactive solar power plant at Singrauli in Uttar Pradesh.
The firm is setting up the plant near its 2,000 mw thermal power plant at Singrauli. On completion, it is expected to supply over 23 million units of solar power every year to the Uttar Pradesh State grid.
To carry out engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for this project, the company roped in another state-owned firm BHEL.
Under the Rs 96 crore contract, BHEL is responsible for design, manufacture, testing, erection and commissioning of the plant.
From concept to commissioning, BHEL would implement the project covering all works and it would also operate and maintain the project for one year.
According to an official statement, BHEL-electronics division is also executing two more solar power plants of 10 mw each for NTPC at Unchahar in Uttar Pradesh and Talcher in Orissa.
