Nagaland government's Adviser to the Department of New and Renewable Energy (RNE), Science and Technology and Art and Culture Deo Nukhu on October 30 said that solar energy tapping is a must for the world to avoid pollution and maintain ecological balance.
Flagging off three solar bikes and a mobile exhibition Van (MEV), introduced by the State government, Nukhu said that initiative will show the path to the people that using of solar power can save money, save the earth from further damage from pollution and biological destructions and give a hand to climate change.
He also said solar power is the cheapest energy in the advanced world and its utility can save fuel consumption. Earlier, Director of New and Renewable Energy Engineer TS Angami said almost all government Departments in Nagaland were now running on solar power and work on the remaining Departments would be completed soon.
He also informed that the Department of RNE was taking up two hydel power projects in Mokokchung and Peren and Solar Hybrid Projects at Zunheboto and Pfutsero under Phek district.
The Hybrid Solar Projects would run on solar and windmill power and both work alternatively.
