In order to discuss ways to complete the pending civil works on Mansarovar-Chandpol Metro route by August 2013, the Rajasthan urban development Minister Shanti Dhariwal held a high-level meeting with Mangu Singh, Managing Director of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
During the meeting, the government is learnt to have asked Mangu Singh to monitor the pending works regularly, possibly every month or fortnight.
The government is reportedly concerned over the delay in the project as the code of conduct in view of Assembly elections would come into effect by October.
Owing to inordinate delay, the deadline for the project has been repeatedly postponed from the original deadline of June to July and now to August.
It is learnt that the latest deadline of August was fixed at a May 2 review meeting held by the minister with the contractors. During the meeting, the minister expressed dissatisfaction over the pace of civil works.
Following this, the minister convened a high-level meeting to discuss strategy for speedy execution of the project.
It may be recalled that the contractors had promised to expedite the civil works when the minister had inspected the Metro Project sites three weeks ago.
