SOJITZ - L&T Consortium secured a Rs 67 billion contract from Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) for setting up a 625 km double track corridor.
The corridor would be set up from Rewari (Haryana) to Iqbalgarh (Gujarat) via Rajasthan. The consortium has been asked to complete work within a period 208 weeks (4 years) from the date of commencement i.e. August 30, 2013.
Under this contract, the consortium would set up double line railway track with 25 ton axle load capable of upgrading to 32.5 ton axle load with double stack container operation.
SOJITZ - L&T Consortium is a joint venture of two construction giants from Japan and India.
Including this contract, DFCCIL awarded contracts for about 1000 km of double line track on the DFC Project.
The latest is the second mega contract of Dedicated Freight Corridor, the first one having awarded in January, 2013 for construction of 343 Kms double line track between Kanpur and Khurja on EDFC.
